He also became vocal and stressed if we were not in the same room. The second day he refused to eat anything, and went all day without eating or drinking anything. The first night I coaxed him into eating Tiki Cat Wet Stix and a small amount of food. ![]() After the cleaning was done, Pixie came out from under the bed, but was not eating very well. I washed all the blankets, sheets, and pillow cases on the bed and vacuumed the rugs with baking soda, hoping this would wash away the dogs' scent and alleviate some of Pixie's stress. I sprayed the room with cat pheromone spray to help with Pixie's anxiety, and then realized one thing: My brother, his wife, and their two small dogs usually stay in the room we were staying in, and it was likely Pixie could smell the dogs. I gave him one of his prednisone pills, and put on music from relax my cat channel on youtube. He stopped holding his mouth open and panting, but was still breathing quite rapidly. I gave him his rescue inhaler, and took him to our room to get him calm. It was the worst attack he has had since being put on medication to manage his breathing. He meowed and was very vocal, paced around the house, and ended up having a severe asthma attack. ![]() The first night, Pixie was very stressed. I packed for myself and Pixie and we arrived at my parent's home saturday night. I agreed, and my husband decided to stay at the apartment during the storm. My parents live inland (meaning away from the beach and in the middle of the state) and have a sturdy house made from cement and told us we could stay with them during the storm and that we could bring Pixie along. Our apartment is located in Central Florida where the storm was forecasted to hit pretty hard. ![]() Anyhow, I wanted to share our experience with hurricane Dorian to those who are curious.
